We had a good long walk tonight. It was a good way to end the day, and was a good way to warm up for the gym tonight. I really enjoy exercise being a daily part of my life. I can’t believe I went so long without taking care of myself. It amazes me how much I just didn’t care about my health for all of these years.
An important part of the Narconon Fresh Start program is encouraging clients to improve their physical condition. While not everyone is as excited as the program participant above to engage in regular exercise, getting fit and healthy is a key part of the recovery process. Addiction to drugs and alcohol leaves the user drained physically, emotionally and financially. Building up one’s self physically and getting healthy goes a long way in helping the recovering person maintain and continue their sobriety. A person who takes care of themselves and feels good about their health is more likely to make healthy and positive choices when it comes to not using drugs or alcohol. Incorporating exercise and healthy activities into one’s daily routine also benefits the recovering person because it gives them a purpose and activity to fill their time. Boredom can often lead to ideal hands, which sometimes lead to picking up old habits to pass the time.
