There are a variety of different drug rehab programs available today. Some offer additional help dealing with issues common to addicted individuals such as dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders), DUI or DWI rehab, detox, teen drug rehab, or court ordered treatment. For a person addicted to drug or alcohol the ability to make a full recovery means addressing all the areas in their life that contributed to their substance abuse as well as those that could lead them to relapse. New life skills and tools are needed to help the recovering person handle real life situations once they complete treatment. Factors such as encountering someone from their days of using, returning to the same environment and places, or even small things such as smells and objects trigger memories which can create psychological stress. This can hinder the recovering individual’s goal of complete recovery, thus not allowing the addict to permanently regain control of his or her life. Successful drug rehab programs like Narconon Fresh Start offer hope to men, women, and their families who are struggling with the devastating consequences of drug and alcohol addiction.

I started using marijuana and alcohol years ago and progressed onto meth from there. Today, I find myself here at Sunshine Summit Lodge a Southern California drug rehab far away from my family and friends. I consider that a good thing. I have had the time to really think about what I was doing before coming here. I’ve come so far in the last few months that I’ve been in treatment and I can’t wait to put it to good use when I get home. I plan to finish my GED and even go to community college. I want to be successful and feel proud of who I am. I know that if I use the education I’ve learned while here and apply to my life and academics at home I can go the distance.
